Ford is marking thirty years of the Expedition, and how it changed what people thought of big SUVs in the late nineties, with a new 30th Anniversary Appearance Package for the 2027 Expedition. Back in 1997, the Expedition really changed the minds of families who needed a lot of space, moving them from minivans and station wagons to a more robust, truck-based SUV but with all the comfort a family would want. Ford’s sold almost three million Expeditions in almost thirty years, and this new package is a way to celebrate that.

The most noticeable part of the 30th Anniversary package is the Blue Ember paint, a rich metallic blue previously on the Mustang Dark Horse. This is combined on the Expedition with 22-inch shiny black wheels for a bolder, more upmarket look. You can get the appearance package on the Expedition’s Stealth Appearance trim and it will also get a Salt Crystal Gray interior to make it different from other versions.

Ford has also included 30th Anniversary emblems around the vehicle. Outside, these are on the middle of the wheel covers and at the rear of the SUV, and inside they’re on the door frame and are pressed into the leather on the middle console which slides forward and back.
For many years the Expedition has been a central part of Ford’s SUV range, providing three rows of seats, the ability to pull a trailer, and the strong construction of a truck for larger families. The 30th Anniversary Appearance Package doesn’t make it go any better, but it does allow owners to commemorate the Expedition’s past with special design features and unique touches.
