Mercedes-AMG has shown us the first actual view of the inside of the next AMG GT 4-Door Coupe – a cabin which centers the driver in the whole experience. Although AMG hasn’t yet given out complete performance figures, the interior by itself shows the coming four-door GT is made to combine sports car intention with long-distance comfort.

Completely worked on at AMG’s base in Affalterbach, the new cabin stresses a closer link between driver and vehicle. The low seat, and where the controls are, are all made to give the car the feeling of a real performance vehicle, even before the engine is started.
Similar to the two-door AMG GT, the new AMG GT 4-Door Coupe has a low, sports car-style driving place. The dashboard design is greatly turned towards the driver, strengthening the car’s performance aim. In the center of the cockpit is a large glass panel holding two screens: a 10.2-inch digital instrument panel and a 14-inch multimedia touchscreen. Mercedes-AMG will also provide a 14-inch passenger screen as an option, giving the person in the front passenger seat their own entertainment system.
One of the most interesting parts of the inside is a new set of driving controls on the center console, which AMG calls the AMG Race Engineer Control Unit. Three turning knobs let the driver quickly change key parts of the car’s behavior:
Response Control: Changes how quickly the electric motors react to the accelerator.
Agility Control: Alters the vehicle’s turning and behaviour in corners.
Traction Control: Allows the driver to change slip control through nine levels.

The front seats are newly made and designed with strong side support to hold people safely during fast driving. Buyers can also choose AMG Performance seats with built-in headrests and light build.
Mercedes-AMG says the new GT 4-Door will have a wide range of inside finishes and color schemes, including materials from leather to carbon fibre. The brand’s Manufaktur customizing program will also be available, letting buyers make more personal insides.
The AMG Performance steering wheel is still a key part of the cockpit. It has controls and turning knobs which allow drivers to quickly switch between driving styles or change performance settings without taking their hands off the wheel.

Even though its aim is performance, the new AMG GT 4-Door Coupe still wants to give the comfort you expect from a grand tourer.
The center console has two wireless phone charging pads, lit cup holders, and a storage space under the armrest. Rear passengers are also thought of. The normal design has two single rear seats, though a three-person rear bench will be an option.
A large panoramic roof is standard, but buyers will also be able to choose Sky Control, which lets the glass roof switch between clear and dark parts using electricity. At night, the roof can become a design of its own. An optional lighting display shows lit AMG signs and racing stripe designs on the glass.

Mercedes-AMG hasn’t shown all the details about the next AMG GT 4-Door Coupe yet, but the inside gives a good idea of what the car will be like. It joins the close cockpit of a sports car with the room and comfort of a grand touring car.
