Lexus has unveiled the all-new 2026 Lexus ES sedan at the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition. The eighth-generation ES not only gets a fresh exterior and interior, but now it will only be offered in hybrid and full battery electric (EV) versions.

The more aggressive styling is inspired by the LF-ZC concept and is designed under a design theme called “Experience Elegance and Electrified Sedan.” The exterior features sharper lines with a new take on the spindle grille at the front. On hybrid models the face is slightly different with an added slim upper grille. The grille is flanked by new Trim-L Signature lights, while the rear gets new Rear L Signature lights.

The 2026 ES has a larger footprint than its predecessor since its now about 6.5-inches longer with a 3-inch longer wheelbase. This allows for more interior space and the seating position has also been raised. For the first time in the US, there’s the optional Executive Package for the ES, which features reclining rear seats with a passenger side ottoman, rear outboard massaging seats and rear seat heating and ventilation.

Its interior features a driver focused layout with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment display.
The 2026 Lexus ES is based on a a redesigned TNGA GA-K platform to allow for both hybrid and electric versions. The ES 350h is powered by a 2.5-liter hybrid system with optional all-wheel drive. There are two versions of the fully electric ES, the ES 350e and the ES 500e. The ES 350e is a front-wheel drive EV, while the ES 500e has all-wheel drive. Lexus has not announced the specs for the electric versions, but it estimates that the ES 350e will have a driving range of up to 300 miles.
