Honda has unveiled the fourth-generation 2026 Honda Passport, which now sports an even more rugged design to go with its increased capability. The Passport and and especially the Passport TrailSport is the most adventure-ready SUV in Honda’s lineup.
On the outside the 2026 Passport now looks more rugged and bold than before. According to Honda, the 2026 “Passport features all-new bodywork conceived around a bold backpack design theme.” A unique matte black finish of the rear roof section, which aligns with the Passport’s backpack design theme – enables owners to lean skis, fishing poles and other equipment against the body without damage. It’s an inch wider than before with a 2.75-inch longer wheelbase.
The 2026 Passport will be offered in three trim levels: RTL, TrailSport and TrailSport Elite. The Passport RTL features black trim and grille, matte black rocker trim and roof spoiler and a silver skid garnish front and rear. It rides on Gloss Shark Gray 18-inch wheels wit all-season tires.
The Passport TrailSport and TrailSport Elite are aimed at buyers that want even more capability. Both feature a gloss black grille and exterior trim, signature amber DRL, metallic silver front and rear skid garnishes and LED fog lights. The TrailSport models also get front and rear recovery points rated at twice the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of the Passport. The TrailSport models ride on 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires.
Inside the interior is similar to the three-row Pilot. It comes standard with body stabilizing power heated front seats. The RTL trim level comes standard with leather seats, while the TrailSport gets synthetic leather seats and the TrailSport Elite gets perforated leather seats. The top spec TrailSport Elite trim level also gets ventilated front seats, rear climate controls, rear door shades and a 12-speaker Bose audio system.
On the tech front, the 2026 Passport comes standard with a 10.2-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen. Google Built-in, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 5G-LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot capability and a wireless smartphone charger are standard.
Under the hood the Passport is powered by a new 3.5-liter V6 engine with 285 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, that’s mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. A i-VTM4 all-wheel drive system is standard and features a stronger rear drive unit that can handle 40% more torque and provides 30% faster response. Up to 70% of the engine’s torque can be sent to the rear axle, and 100% of that torque can be distributed to either the left or right rear wheel. The 2026 Passport can tow up to 5,000 pounds.
The TrailSport models get a unique suspension for off-road driving with exclusive spring rates and damper valve tuning, plus optimized stabilizer bars. Steel skid plates protect the oil pan, transmission and gas tank from damage. The TrailSport Elite adds a new TrailWatch camera system that uses four exterior cameras to offer four camera views (front, rear, side and 360 degree) along with tire placement graphics to help drivers navigate obstacles.
The 2026 Honda Passport is slated to arrive in early 2025 with a price tag starting in the mid-$40,000s.
