Volvo has announced the updates to the 2024 C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge, which are getting new powertrains and longer driving ranges.

The big news is the addition of new single-motor rear-wheel drive versions, which are powered by a 248 horsepower electric motor and an 82 kWh battery pack. The driving range for the single motor versions is up to 297 miles for the C40 Recharge and 293 miles for the XC40 Recharge. Charging has also improved and can now accept rates up to 200 kW. It now only takes 28 minutes to charge both models from 10-80 percent in 28 minutes.

The Twin Motor versions also get new electric motors. There’s now a 255 hp electric motor at the rear and a 147 hp electric motor at the front. The front electric motor is only engaged when more traction is needed. The Twin Motor versions of the C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge keep the 78kWh battery pack with a top charging rate of 150 kW DC. This means the XC40 Recharge Twin Motor AWD can now drive up to 254 miles, a 31 miles longer. The range of the C40 Recharge Twin Motor has improved up to 257 miles from 226 miles.

The 2024 C40 and XC40 Recharge also get new 19-inch wheels.
