VinFast is a new Vietnamese startup that is getting ready to make a big splash in the EV segment with the upcoming arrival of the VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs. Both EVs are slated to come to the US next year with production expected to kick off in the third quarter of 2023.
The 2024 VinFast VF6 measures 166.9 inches long, making it a subcompact SUV. It will be offered with a single electric motor that powers the front wheels. The Eco model has 174 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, while the Plus version has 201 hp and 228 lb-ft. The VF6 will be available with two different battery packs, but the specs have not been released.
The 2024 VinsFast VF7 is the larger option that puts it in the compact SUV class. It’s available with either one or two electric motors. The single motor, front-wheel drive Eco model has 201 hp and 228 lb-ft. While the dual-motor all-wheel drive Plus version has 349 hp and 368 lb-ft. Just like the VF6, we don’t have any specs about the battery or its expected driving range.
VinFast will also release the two-row VF8 and three-row VF9 SUVs.
