Acura has unveiled its first electric vehicle, the 2024 Acura ZDX and ZDX Type S. The ZDX is based on GM’s Ultium EV platform and will also be closely related to the Honda Prologue EV.
The ZDX will be offered in single and dual-motor versions. The ZDX A-Spec version comes standard with the single motor that generates 340 horsepower and has an estimated driving range of 325 miles. A dual motor version of the ZDX A-Spec is also available and will have a 315 mile range. The more exciting version is the ZDX Type S, which is powered by two electric motors that generate a combined 500 horsepower and has a 288 mile range.
The ZDX Type S also gets a height adjustable air suspension, adaptive dampers and15.6-inch Brembo front brakes with 6-piston yellow calipers.
The ZDX can be charged with a DC Fast Charging at up to 190 kW. Using a DC Fast Charger, the ZDX A-Spec rear-wheel drive model can gain up to 81 miles of range in approximately 10 minutes.
In terms of styling, the ZDX features a low and wide look with a sleek silhouette and a long wheelbase. At the front there’s an evolution of Acura’s corporate face.
Inside there’s an 11-inch digital gauge cluster and an 11.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Fortunately the ZDX doesn’t get the unloved infotainment system that other Acura models have. The infotainment system has a Google built-in system, which includes apps like Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play. The ZDX is also the first Acura to get a Bang & Olufsen audio system. The audio system is standard on the ZDX and comes with 18 speaker, including four in the headliner and a subwoofer.
The new AcuraWatch 360+ system on the ZDX Type S introduces hands free cruise driver assistance technology , which enables true hands-free driving on up to 400,000 miles of compatible roads. The ZDX Type S also gets AcuraWatch 360+ which features the first automatic parking assist system in an Acura.
Pricing for the 2024 ZDX A-Spec will start around $60,000, while the ZDX Type S will start around $70,000. Deliveries are expected to start in early 2024.
