Subaru is giving the Ascent three-row SUV a facelift for the new model year. The 2023 Ascent not only gets refreshed styling, but a long list of updated tech features.

At the front, the 2023 Ascent’s face has been updated with a new bigger grille, redesigned headlights and a more aggressive bumper. At the rear the biggest change are the updated C-shaped taillights.

Now for all the tech upgrades. The 2023 Ascent gets the latest version of Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist system, which Subaru says “operates more smoothly and under a greater range of conditions” thanks to updated software, an electric brake booster and a wider-angle camera. The new wide-angle Mono camera expands the field of view to better detect pedestrians and bicyclists. Automatic emergency steering is included on models with blind-spot detection.

Inside there’s a new Cabin Connect system that transmits the driver and front passenger’s voice through the rear speakers, so passengers in the third-row can hear them. The bigger update is a new 11.6-inch display and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Ascent Onyx Edition, which features black trim, 20-inch black wheels and contrast green stitching on the StarTex water-repellant seats. Buyers can also choose a new option package for the Onyx Editoin, which adds a navigation system with a Harmon Kardon audio system. The package also incudes driver assist technologies, like a Surround View Monitor and DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation system.

The Ascent is powered by a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder boxer engine with 260 horsepower, that’s mated to a CVT. The Ascent can tow up to 5,000 pounds.
