Jeep has announced the updates to the 2023 Jeep Cherokee. The big news is that the V6 is now off the options list, since the 2023 Cherokee now comes standard with a four-cylinder engine.
Buyers can choose from two four-cylinder engine options. The standard engine is a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 180 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque. The Cherokee Trailhawk gets a turbocharged 2.0 liter four-cylinder with 270 hp and 295 lb-ft. Both engines are mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. The Cherokee comes standard with four-wheel drive, but there’s a rear-axle disconnect system that improves the fuel economy specs when you don’t need the power to go to all four wheels.
The 2023 Cherokee is available in two trim levels: Altitude Lux and Trailhawk. The new Altitude Lux version comes standard with 17-inch Gloss Black painted aluminum wheels, LED lighting, and Gloss Black grille surrounds, accents and badging. The interior features black Nappa leather seats, Piano Black interior accents, 7-inch multi-view, full-color thin-film transistor (TFT), and heated steering wheel and seats. 18-inch alloy wheels are optional.
The Uconnect system with an 8.4-inch display is also standard.
On the safety front, the 2023 Cherokee comes standard with adaptive cruise control with stop and go functionality, perpendicular park assist and ParkSense front/rear park assist with rear stop.
The simplified Jeep Cherokee lineup aligns with the fact that production is slated to end after February 2023 at the plant in Belvedere, Illinois. There are rumors that production of the Cherokee’s replacement could move to Mexico
