Mazda recently announced plans to increase its SUV lineup, which includes the CX-50, CX-70 and CX-90 models. Now we’re about to get our first look at the first new SUV, the CX-50, since Mazda has announced that the 2022 CX-50 will debut on November 15.

To go with the announcement about the CX-50, Mazda has released this teaser video, but you can barely see the CX-50 in it.

Not much is known yet about the CX-50, but it will be sold alongside the CX-5. It’s expected that it will be larger than the CX-5, which is a good thing, since the CX-5’s interior is more snug than its main rivals, the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4.

The CX-50 is also expected to be based on the same platform as the Mazda3 and CX-30. It will enter production in January 2022 at Mazda’s new joint plant with Toyota in Huntsville, Alabama. Under the hood we can expect it to at least offer the same turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder as the CX-5 and CX-30.

Stay tuned.
