The eighth generation 2021 Volkswagen Golf GTI is finally here. VW has unveiled the 2021 GTI, which arrives with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 245 horsepower (180 kW), which is a nice bump up from the current model, which has 228-hp on tap.

The four-cylinder is mated to either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The 2021 GTI is based on VW’s MQB platform and just like past generations, the latest GTI goes for a more subtle design approach. The big design traits that you expect are still there, like the iconic red stripe grille. The front fascia also gets a unique honeycomb-pattern lower grille with optional LED headlights with an X pattern.

The GTI comes standard with 17-inch Richmond alloy wheels, but 18- and 19-inch wheels are optional. At the rear there’s a diffuser, roof spoiler and LED taillights.

Inside the 2021 GTI’s interior is far more modern with a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster and 10.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
