Today Mercedes-Benz was supposed to pull the covers off the refreshed 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class lineup, but those plans had to change slightly when the Geneva Motor Show was canceled due to the Coronavirus. Well the good news is that Mercedes-Benz has still unveiled the new E-Class, which has received a facelift, updated tech features and even a new plug-in hybrid version.
The 2021 E-Class sees the introduction of the E350e plug-in hybrid, the slightly rugged All-Terrain wagon and the updated E53 performance version. On the outside the E-Class has a new face with new LED headlights and a restyled grille. At the rear there are new taillights that are similar to the smaller A-Class.
Inside the 2021 E-Class gets the latest version of the MBUX infotainment system, which features a 12.3-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The updated E-Class also gets more safety features, like adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, a new steering wheel hands-off detection, active steering assist, active blind-spot assist, automatic emergency braking, and a 360-degree camera.
Under the hood the E450 is now powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine with EQ Boost, which generates 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. The base E350 rear-wheel-drive and E350 4Matic models are powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 255 hp and 273 lb-ft. The E350e plug-in hybrid is powered 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a 90-kilowatt-hour electric motor that generate a combined 315-hp and 516 lb-ft. of torque.
