The time is almost up for the Lincoln MKC, since Lincoln has finally decided to kill its unmemorable alphanumeric names for cooler names like Aviator and Nautilus. Well the MKC will soon be replaced by the Corsair, which is slated to arrive for the 2020 model year.
The 2020 Lincoln Corsair will continue to sit at the entry point for the Lincoln brand, just like the outgoing MKC. We have yet to see it yet, but The Truth About Cars recently dug up some official documents that provide some early details about what will power the compact SUV.
The big news is that the 2020 Lincoln Corsair will be offered with a plug-in hybrid version, according to a VIN decoder document that Ford sent to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The plug-in hybrid powertrain will consist of a 2.5L four-cylinder that’s mated to an electric motor. The Corsair PHEV will also only be offered with all-wheel drive.
The 2020 Corsair will also be offered with a 2.0L EcoBoost engine and for those buyers that want a bit more power, a 2.3L EcoBoost four-cylinder engine will also be offered.
