Kia is going to reveal the next-generation 2020 Kia Soul EV next week at the LA Auto Show. Kia hasn’t released any specs for the 2020 Soul EV, but a new report claims that it will have a longer driving range than the outgoing model.
According to Inside EVs, the 2020 Kia Soul EV will be powered by a 39 kWh battery pack that’s borrowed from the new Niro EV. The battery pack is bigger than the outgoing Soul EV with its 30 kWh battery pack, which should give it a driving range around 140 miles compared to only 111 miles with the last Soul EV.
With a driving range only around 140 miles, the Soul EV will rival the Nissan Leaf, but not longer range models, like the Chevy Bolt. Kia also doesn’t expect to sell many, since Kia has revealed that the 2020 Soul EV will only be offered in select markets, aka CARB states.
