Ever since Ford announced that the Ford Bronco is coming back, we’ve been waiting to hear more juicy details about the Bronco. It’s already been rumored that the new 2020 Bronco will be offered in two- and four-door versions, and now a new rumor suggests that it may be offered with a seven-speed manual transmission.
According to sources that spoke with Jalopnik, the 2020 Ford Bronco will be getting a manual transmission that’s being sourced from Getrag. The sources also claim that the transmission, which is called the MT-88, will be a seven-speed manual that’s mated to the 2.7L EcoBoost V6 engine. This isn’t the only transmission that Ford sources from Getrag, since the company also builds the six-speed manual for the Mustang.
The decision to offer a seven-speed manual transmission is a rare choice, since only a few models are offered with a seven speed manual transmission, like the Porsche 911. Even if not that many buyers select the manual, it’s a wide choice to offer it, since the Bronco’s main rival, the Wrangler, is also available with a manual transmission.
We don’t know when the 2020 Ford Bronco is going to debut, but let’s hope the rumor is true.
