The BMW 8 Series lineup is almost now complete with the debut of the 8 Series Gran Coupe, which is scheduled to arrive this fall.
The 2020 8 Series Gran Coupe is the more practical model in the lineup, since not only does it have four doors, but it’s more spacious. Compared to the 8 Series Coupe, the 8 Series Gran Coupe is 9-inches longer, 1.2-inches wider and 2.2-inches taller.
Compared to the Coupe, the 8 Series Gran Coupe features a taller roofline with a panoramic glass moonroof that starts from the windshield and stretches all the way back to the rear window. If you prefer to not have the moonroof, a Carbon FIber roof is optional.
Initially the 8 Series Gran Coupe will be offered in three versions, the 840i, 840i xDrive and M850i XDrive. The 840i models are powered by a 3.0L turbocharged six-cylinder engine that generates 335 horsepower and 368 lb-ft. of torque. The rear-wheel drive 840i reaches 60 mph in 4.9 seconds, while the all-wheel drive 840i xDrive can reach that speed in 4.6 seconds. Both models have an electronically limited top speed of 130 mph with all-season tires and 155 mph with performance tires.
The M850i xDrive Gran Coupe is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4L V8 with 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft. of torque. The M850i xDrive Gran Coupe can reach 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, but it has the same top speed as the 840i models.
The 2020 840i Gran Coupe starts at $85,895, including the destination fees, while the 840i xDrive Gran Coupe starts at $88,795. The M850i xDrive Gran Coupe starts at $109,895. Now we have just have to wait for BMW to reveal the M8 Gran Coupe.
