Volvo will finally unveil the compact XC40 crossover next week, but thanks to Volvo Hungary we have an early look at the Volvo XC40.

Volvo XC40

Earlier today, Volvo released a teaser video of the new XC40, but its Hungary division accidentally posted a different version of the video, which fully reveals the XC40.

At first glance, the XC40 doesn’t differ that much from the Volvo 40.1 concept that previewed it. You’ll see a few changes to its front fenders, mirrors, door handles and lower front bumper. Other than that everything else is pretty much the same thing, which is good news for fans of the original concept.

The XC40’s interior will get lots of unique tricks to maximize its space, but from here we can see that the interior will also get a large touchscreen, like the XC60 and XC90 models.

The XC40 will be Volvo’s first model based on its Compact Modular Architecture, which will be used for the rest of the 40-Series lineup. We don’t know yet what all the powertrain options will be, but the one option will be a 1.5L three-cylinder turbocharged engine. The XC40 is also expected to get Volvo’s four-cylinder engine and also offer a plug-in hybrid version that will pair a three-cylinder engine to an electric motor and 7-speed dual clutch transmission.

Even though the Volvo XC40 will have its debut next week on September 21, Volvo has not announced exactly when it will be available. It will most likely arrive in the U.S. sometime next year as a 2019 model.
