With 155 horsepower, the Mazda MX-5 Miata is more than just how much power there’s under the hood, but help might be on the way. Road & Track has reportedly uncovered new documents that claim that the 2019 MX-5 Miata is getting a 26 horsepower bump to 181 horsepower.

Mazda hasn’t confirmed anything, but according to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the MX-5 Miata’s 2.0L four-cylinder will be getting a performance boost. Since Mazda has not confirmed the reports, it’s not known how the 2019 MX-5 Miata will get the extra horsepower.

Since the current generation MX-5 Miata was introduced for the 2016 model year, the extra horsepower might also come with a facelift for the 2019 MX-5 Miata.
