Hyundai recently introduced the i30 N-Line, a toned down version of the i30 N hot hatch, in Europe and now it looks like it’s headed the US as well. A recent filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reveals that Hyundai plans to bring the i30 N-Line to the US, which will be sold here as the 2019 Elantra GT N-Line.
Thanks to the guys over at Jalopnik who discovered the filing, we now know that Hyundai is at least planning to sell a slightly sportier version of the Elantra GT in the United States. Sadly we wish Hyundai would bring the i30 N to the US as well, since the only N model that we get so far is the Veloster N. It’s expected that the 2019 Hyundai Elantra GT N-Line will get many of the same upgrades as the i30 N-Line.
The i30 N-Line doesn’t get the fun 247-hp 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder from the i30 N, but it does get some tweaks to the suspension, brakes and engine response, which will give it a slightly sportier driving experience. On the outside the i30 N-Line also gets more aggressive front and rear bumpers and unique 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside the i30 N-Line gets N-branded suede sport seats and a leather wrapped steering wheel.
