As predicted, BMW has unveiled the 2019 BMW Z4 M40i First Edition today at Pebble Beach, but we’ll have to wait to get all the details about the 2019 Z4 next month.
The 2019 BMW Z4 retains many of the styling traits from the concept, but the front and rear fascias have been toned down a bit. BMW highlights the fact that the new Z4 features the ideal 50:50 weight distribution and a low center of gravity should help it hug the road.
BMW isn’t quite ready to reveal the specs for the powertrains, but the Z4 M40i First Edition will be powered by a 3.0L six-cylinder engine that will give the roadster a 0-60 mph time of under 4.4 seconds. BMW has also confirmed the introduction of the Z4 30i, which is expected to get a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
Compared to the other 2019 Z4 models, the 2019 BMW Z4 M40i First Edition comes exclusively in a Frozen Orange Metallic. A blacked out grille, black mirror caps and unique two-tone 19-inch alloy wheels help the Z4 M40i First Edition stand out in the lineup. Inside it gets Vernasca black leather seats, a Harmon Kardon audio system and a head-up display.
The 2019 BMW Z4 will officially debut on September 18, which is when we’ll get all the details about both the Z4 30i and Z4 M40i models. The 2019 BMW Z4 30i will go on sale in spring 2019, while the Z4 M40i and Z4 M40i First Edition will arrive in the second quarter of 2019.
