It’s being reported that BMW will take the wraps off the 2019 BMW X7 this fall at the Los Angeles Auto Show. According to Autocar, BMW has chosen the LA show instead of the slightly earlier Paris Motor Show for the big SUV’s debut.
If the report is true that the X7 will debut in LA, it makes sense, since the US is one of the main sales targets for the X7, which also includes China. BMW is already testing pre-production X7 prototypes, which are rolling off the assembly line at BMW’s South Carolina plant. The production versions will also be built at the same plant.
Autocar is also reporting that the X7 will initially be offered with BMW’s more traditional engines, like the 4.4L biturbo V8 and a 3.0L diesel. A plug-in hybrid version with a 2.0L four-cylinder and electric motor will eventually be added to the range. The X7 plug-in hybrid will have an electric driving range around 60 miles.
Sales of the 2019 BMW X7 will likely kick off by the end of the year or in early 2019.
