After several photo leaks, BMW has unveiled the fourth generation 2019 BMW X5. After seeing the leaked photos there isn’t too much left to surprise us here, but the 2019 X5 does get a long list of new tech features.

Overall the styling of the 2019 BMW X5 doesn’t change too much, with the biggest differences being its front and rear fascias. At the front the X5’s face is now dominated by a new take on the BMW kidney grille, which looks closer to the grille that’s going to arrive on the new X7. At the rear new horizontal lights look more modern than the outgoing X5.

The 2019 X5 has grown compared to its predecessor. It’s now Length increased by 1.42-inches, width by 2.59-inches and its just under and inch taller. To provide more room inside, the 2019 X5’s wheelbase has been stretched by 1.65-inches.

When the 2019 X5 goes on sale, it will be offered with a with a range of engine options. The BMW X5 xDrive40i is powered by a 3.0L six-cylinder engine with 340 hp and 332 lb-ft. of torque. It reaches 62 mph in 5.5 seconds and has a top speed of 151 mph. The X5 xDrive50i is powered by a 4.4L V8 with 462 hp and 479 lb-ft. of torque. The V8 reaches 62 mph in 4.7 seconds and gives the X5 a top speed of 155 mph. The X5 xDrive30d is powered by a 3.0L six-cylinder diesel engine with 265 hp and 457 lb-ft. of torque. It reach 62 mph in 6.5 seconds and has top speed of 143 mph. The X5 M50d gets a 3.0L diesel with 400 horsepower and 560 lb-ft. of torque. The X5 M50d reaches 62 mph in 5.2 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph.

The 2019 BMW X5 will be the first BMW X model offered with an optional Off-Road package. The package adds a two-axle air suspension, skid plates, plus specific displays in the instrument cluster and Control Display. The package offers four driving modes: sand, rock, gravel or snow. The four modes adjust the ride height and the responses of
BMW xDrive, DSC, the transmission and the accelerator.

Inside the 2019 X5 debuts with the BMW Live Cockpit Professional display and control concept. There’s also a 12.3-
inch Control Display for the infotainment system with and easier to use display controller, voice control and BMW gesture control. In front of the driver, the head-up display is now larger with 3D graphics and more display content.

To fit the whole family the 2019 X5 will offer optional third row of seats to give the X5 room for seven. At the rear a two-piece split tailgate makes it easier to load all your gear. Some of the options, include multifunction seats with massage function, four-zone automatic climate control, heated armrests, cooled/heated cupholders in the center console, a panoramic glass roof Sky Lounge with a 23 percent larger glass surface, an Ambient Air package, and a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System.

There are a bunch of new driver assistance systems, like the Driving Assistant Professional that includes Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, Steering and lane control assistant, Lane Change Warning and Lane Departure
Warning, side collision protection, evasion aid, Crossing traffic warning, Priority warning and Wrong-way warning.

The new Emergency Stop Assistant brakes the vehicle automatically and steers it to the side of the road to avoid a collision, while the Parking Assistant features automated longitudinal and lateral guidance. A new Reversing Assistant makes it easier to park the X5, since it takes over steering to park the vehicle.

The 2019 BMW X5 arrives in the U.S. in November.
