Over the last year automakers, like BMW and Volvo have disappointed wagon fans by their decisions to either not sell certain wagon models in the U.S. or give them limited availability. For example we’re not getting the new 5 Series wagon and if you want the Volvo V90 you can only specially order it. Well Porsche just did something that should excite wagon fans – here’s your first look at the 2018 Panamera Sport Turismo – a wagon version of the Panamera!

Based on the standard Panamera, the Panamera Sport Turismo expands the lineup and now brings some added versatility. The Sport Turismo model’s larger luggage compartment and an extra seat for a fifth passenger will attract Panamera fans that need a little extra room compared to the sedan.

The Panamera Sport Turismo is the first Panamera to be offered with three rear seats, but the outside seats still retain their individuality, resulting in a 2+1 configuration. If you’d rather just have the two seats in the rear, it’s an option.

From the B-pillar back, the Panamera Sport Turismo’s design changes significantly from the standard sedan. It’s raised roofline adds extra headroom for rear passengers and also helps contribute to the larger luggage compartment. Speaking of the raised roofline, it extends into an adaptive spoiler that is set in three stages depending on the driving situation and selected vehicle settings.

Below 106 mph, the spoiler stays in its retracted position with an angle of minus seven degrees to reduces drag, while above that speed the roof spoiler automatically moves to the performance position with an angle of plus one degree, thereby increasing driving stability and lateral dynamics. When in the Sport and Sport Plus driving modes, the roof spoiler automatically moves to the performance position at speeds above 56 mph. The spoiler can also adjust when the panoramic roof is open to reduce wind noise.
