Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the updated 2018 S-Class Coupe and Cabriolet, which will both debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show this month. The 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe and Cabriolet get many of the same updates as the S-Class sedan, like extended driver assistance systems, an new infotainment system, new steering wheels, slightly tweaked styling and some performance improvements.

The big addition to the S-Class Coupe and Cabriolet lineup are the new OLED taillights. The new taillights With feature wafer-thin layers of organic materials that are printed on a glass plate and made to illuminate. The total of 66 ultra-flat OLEDs act like floating elements inside the taillight.

Inside there are three new trim lines: High-Gloss Brown Burl Walnut, Satin-finish Ash Grey and designo magnolia flowing lines as well as one new upholstery option, designo Exclusive Nappa leather Porcelain/Tizian Red. The interior features two new high- resolution 12.3-inch displays under one shared glass cover. A Widescreen Cockpit contains a large display with virtual instruments in the direct field of vision of the driver, as well as a central display above the center console. The digital cockpit has three different styles: Classic, Sporty and Progressive.

The 2018 S-Class Coupe and Cabriolet get new Intelligent Drive driver assistance systems. Active Distance Assist Distronic and Active Steering Assist now provide more support for the driver to keep a safe distance and steer. The speed is now adjusted automatically ahead of bends, junctions or roundabouts.

The S560 Coupe and S560 Cabriolet are powered by a new V8 that Mercedes-Benz says is is one of the world’s most economical V8 gas engines and consumes up to eight percent less than its predecessor. The new 4.0L V8 has 463 hp and 516 lb-ft. The S560 can reach 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds.

If you step up to the Mercedes-AMG models, you get even more power. The AMG S63 Coupe and Cabriolet are powered by a new AMG 4.0L V8 biturbo engine with 603 horsepower and 664 lb-ft. of torque. Even though the new 4.0L engine is smaller than the old 5.5L V8 biturbo, the new engine generates 26 more horsepower. The S63 models only need 3.4 seconds to reach 60 mph. The S65 Coupe and Cabriolet are powered by a 6.0L V12 that generates 621 horsepower and 738 lb-ft. of torque. The S65 models need four seconds to reach 60 mph.

2018 Mercedes-AMG S65 Cabriolet

On the outside the 2018 AMG S-Class Coupes and Cabriolets have been updated with the addition of the AMG Panamericana radiator grille.

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe and Cabriolet will arrive in the U.S. by mid-2018.
