After years of waiting for Lexus to introduce a three-row crossover, it’s finally here. Lexus has unveiled the 2018 Lexus RX L, which builds upon the popular RX with the addition of a third row seat – giving you space for seven passengers.
The 2018 RX L rides on the same wheelbase as the standard RX, but an additional 4.3-inches were added at the rear to make room for the extra row of seats. A steeper tailgate window was also added to give your friends in the back more headroom. The standard RX L comes with a 40/20/40 split bench-type second row seat, but an available six-seat configuration features second-row captain’s chairs that will also make access to the third row easier.
The 2018 RX L will be available in two versions, The RX 350L or RX 450hL hybrid. The RX 350L is powered by a 3.5L V6 with 290 horsepower and 263 lb-ft. of torque that’s mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Buyers can also choose either front or all-wheel drive. If you want something more efficient, the RX 450hL hybrid is powered by a 3.5L V6 with two electric motors for a combined output of 308 horsepower. The RX 450hL hybrid comes standard with all-wheel drive, since one of the electric motors powers the rear wheels.
The 2018 Lexus RX 350L will arrive later this year starting at $48,665.
