Lexus unveiled the all-new 2018 Lexus LS flagship sedan earlier this year, but now Lexus has released a few more details about the new LS, including its arrival date and what it will be priced at. The 2018 Lexus LS will arrive in February 2018 with a starting price around $75,000.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 28 years since the first LS debuted, but Lexus is hoping that the revamped LS will be able to bring back some of the magic that the first LS did with the new fifth generation LS. “Not only will the LS symbolize the Lexus brand, it will become the definitive new-generation luxury car embodying Japanese tradition and culture,” said LS Chief Engineer Toshio Asahi. “As such, this global pinnacle must go far beyond what the world expects from a luxury car.”

The new LS is longer, wider and lower than the fourth generation with a style that far more interesting to look at. Compared to the outgoing LS, the new model is about 0.6 inches lower, while the hood and trunk are approximately 1.2 inches and 1.6 inches lower, respectively.

Under the hood the old naturally-aspirated 4.6L V8 is gone and now the LS 500 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine with 416 horsepower and 442 lb-ft. of torque. The V6 is mated to a new 10-speed automatic transmission and the driver can choose from Normal, Sport S or Sport S+ modes. In 2018 LS 500 with rear-wheel drive will reach 60 mph in 4.6 seconds.

The LS 500h hybrid is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine with two electric motor/generator. The hybrid powertrain generates 354 hp, enabling the LS 500h to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds.

On the safety front, the 2018 LS gets a long list of new safety features, like Road Sign Assist that can read road sign info, Lane Trace Assist that can assist the driver by “tracing” the path of the vehicle ahead in instances where lane lines might not be recognized and a pre-collision system.
