Although the attention has shifted to electric cars, like the Tesla Model 3 and Chevy Bolt, there are still plenty of other electric cars on the market. Kia has yet to offer a long range EV, but the current Kia Soul EV has quietly gotten a range upgrade for the 2018 model year.
Thanks to a new 30 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the 2018 Kia Soul EV can now travel up to 111 miles between charges. That’s still much shorter than the Model 3 or Bolt, but it is an upgrade over the previous 93 mile range. Other than the battery upgrade the rest of the Kia Soul EV carries over into the new model year without any changes.
Pricing for the 2018 Kia Soul EV starts at $34,845 for the base model, while the EV+ model is priced at $36,845.
If you’re hoping that Kia will release a rival to the Chevy Bolt, it will happen soon, since Kia recently unveiled the Kia Niro EV concept, which can travel up to 238 miles between charges.
