Hyundai has announced that the 2018 Hyundai Accent will debut this week at the Orange County Auto Show. The 2018 Accent gets an upgraded, more upscale looking exterior, a stronger chassis and a quieter interior. The other big change is the Accent hatchback is now dead.
We’ll have all the details in a few days when the 2018 Accent debuts, but for now Hyundai has revealed its new exterior design, which gets a new interpretation of the cascading grille, that will soon be applied to pretty much every model in the Hyundai lineup. The headlights also look a bit cleaner and at the back, the rear of the Accent gets updated with a look that is similar to the larger Elantra and Sonata.
Under the hood the 2018 Accent will be powered by a 1.6L four-cylinder with 132 horses and 119 lb-ft. of torque. The four-cylinder can be mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. The Accent is now comprised of 54.5% advanced high strength steel. Hyundai also says that the new Accent will be quieter with improved ride quality.
Inside the Accent comes standard with a five-inch touchscreen with a rear view camera, but there’s an optional seven-inch display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Heated front seats, Push Button start, Dual Automatic Temperature Control and a Smart Trunk release are optional.
