While some of VW’s brands may be having an issue with the word “diesel” that doesn’t mean that the diesel engine is going away anytime soon, well at least in Europe. Bentley has unveiled the new Bentayga Diesel, which is powered by the same 4.0L V8 as the Audi SQ7 TDI.

The Bentley Bentayga Diesel is the first diesel-powered Bentley ever. The 4.0L V8 features sequential twin-scroll turbochargers and a third electric supercharger that helps it generate 429 horsepower and 664 lb-ft. of torque. The V8 is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. That’s enough power to give the Bentayga Diesel a 0-60 mph time of 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 168 mph. On the EU cycle it has a combined rating of 35.8 mpg and its CO2 emissions are only 210 grams per kilometer.
