Porsche has unveiled the limited edition 2016 Porsche 911 R at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The 911 R is limited to 991 units worldwide, and is the lightest available version of the 911 at only 3,021 pounds.
The 911 R is powered by a 4.0L naturally aspirated flat-six engine that’s borrowed from the 911 GT3 RS. The six-cylinder generates 500-hp and 338 lb.-ft. of torque and is mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission. The 911 R can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds and reach a top track speed of 200 miles per hour. It also gets specially tuned standard rear-axle steering, a mechanical rear differential lock and the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake system with 16.1 inch front and 15.4 inch rear rotors.

To help it come in 110 pounds lighter than the 911 GT3 RS, the 911 R’s front luggage compartment lid and front fenders are made of carbon fiber, while the roof is made of magnesium. Reduced interior insulation and the omission of rear seats also help to reduce weight. The 911 R comes standard without an air conditioning oran audio system.
The 2016 Porsche 911 R will arrive late this summer and will starts at $184,900, excluding the $1,050 destination charge.
