Honda is getting ready to reveal the new Civic Type R next month at the Geneva Motor Show, but even though the show is a few weeks away, Honda has been kind enough to release a few teasers early. The Civic Type R will look very close to the concept version, which is proven by these few photos of the production version.
The Civic Type R will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder that will have around 280 horsepower. Honda says that its engineers spent an extensive time making sure that the Civic Type R is as aerodynamic as possible, which helps it achieve a top speed of 167 mph.

A new, almost completely flat underside aids airflow under the vehicle and combines with a rear diffuser to optimize downforce – effectively ‘sucking’ the car onto the road. A bespoke rear wing gives the car enhanced visual presence and delivers additional downforce, thanks notably to the structure of its airfoil section. A wide front splitter and deep side skirts also manage airflow and reduce lift, while the front bumper has been shaped specifically to inhibit air turbulence around the front wheels, cutting drag and enhancing high-speed stability.
To help keep the Civic Type R under control, it features a high performance Brembo brake package for the front wheels, developed specifically for the car. At the front, four-piston calipers apply braking force to 350 mm drilled discs.
The Civic Type R will be unveiled at Geneva Motor Show in Championship White – a color shared with successive generations of iconic Type R vehicles.
