Audi has released the pricing for its first plug-in hybrid, the 2016 A3 Sportback e-tron plug-in hybrid, which will start at $38,825 when it arrives later this year.

Audi has released the pricing for its first plug-in hybrid, the 2016 A3 Sportback e-tron plug-in hybrid, which will start at $38,825 when it arrives later this year. The A3 e-tron is eligible for several federal and state tax incentives, including a $4,168 federal tax credit.
The A3 Sportback e-tron is powered by a 1.4L engine that is mated to an electric motor and an 8.8 kWh lithium-ion battery. The plug-in hybrid has a combined output of 204 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. of torque. Audi hasn’t released the performance specs for the U.S. version, but the European model can reach 0-60 mph in 7.6 seconds and can travel up to 31 miles in fully electric mode.

Drivers will be able to select between four driving modes: EV, Hybrid, Hold Battery and Charge Battery. Re-charging on a 240-volt outlet only takes 2 hours and 15 minutes, but charging on a standard 120-volt outlet will take longer at approximately 8 hours.
