The all-new 2015 VW GTI is slated to arrive around this time next year, but the model that most enthusiasts are probably most excited about is the top dog of the Golf lineup, the Golf R. VW hasn’t unveiled the new Golf R, but prototypes of the high-performance hatch have been zooming around the Nürburgring in Germany.
What can we expect from the next Golf R? It’s likely to be powered by a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder and for all of those fans that were disappointed with the final output of the new GTI, the Golf R is rumored to pack somewhere around 280 horsepower and 280 lb-ft. of torque.
