MINI has just unveiled the 2015 MINI Cooper 4 door, which takes the iconic shape of the standard MINI Cooper, but thanks to a longer body and two rear doors, it’s more usable.
Compared to the standard MINI Cooper 2 Door, the Cooper 4 door is 6.3 inches longer with a 2.9 inch longer wheelbase. The rear seat has room for up to three passengers since the interior is 1.8 inches wider, headroom has been increased by 0.5 inches and there is 1.5 inches more legroom. Even the luggage compartment is a tad bigger with a total 9.2 cubic feet of space.
When the 2015 MINI Cooper 4 Door arrives it will be offered with the same two engines as the 2 Door: a 134-hp three-cylinder and the 189-hp 2.0L four-cylinder. The engines can be mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. With the 1.5L three-cylinder the Cooper 4 door reaches 0-60 mph in as little as 7.6 seconds, while the 2.0L turbocharged engine can reach the same speed in 6.5 seconds with the automatic.
MINI hasn’t released the pricing for the 2015 Cooper 4 Door, but does state that it will only cost about $1,000 more than the 2 door.
