Although Ford has yet to release a Mustang that can rival the 707 horsepower 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, the guys over at Hennessey have the answer. What we have here is the 2015 HPE700 Mustang that tops the Challenger SRT Hellcat with a supercharged 717 horsepower V8.

The HPE700 Mustang is powered by the same 5.0L V8 as the Mustang GT, but thanks to a Roots-type high-helix supercharger with 7.25 psi of boost, the engine generates 717 horsepower and 632 lb-ft. of torque. Hennessey says that it will reach 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds and cover the quarter-mile in 11.2 seconds at 131 mph (the Challenger SRT Hellcat has the same quarter-mile time).

“This thing is uncaged, absolutely nuts,” says Hennessey partner Don Goldman. “We’re thrilled to offer a 2015 Mustang that will outperform some of the fastest cars currently offered, at a lower price point.”

Only 500 units of the HPE700 Mustang will be produced, which start at $59,500, including the base price for the 2015 Mustang GT. Buyers can add also add upgrades like a carbon fiber body kit that includes the front splitter, side sills, rear diffuser and rear lip spoiler. 20-in. Hennessey H10 wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport 2 tires and a Brembo brake package with 15.1-in. front rotors are also optional.
