2015 Dodge Challenger Goes Under the Knife to Turn Back the Clock

Dodge has taken the covers off the 2015 Dodge Challenger and while the changes may be minimal, the changes do bring it closer to the iconic 1971 Challenger that inspires today’s model.

Dodge has taken the covers off the 2015 Dodge Challenger and while the changes may be minimal, the changes do bring it closer to the iconic 1971 Challenger that inspires today’s model. With an updated exterior, a more modern interior and a new eight speed automatic transmission, the 2015 Challenger is sure to please its diehard fans.

The 2015 Challenger gets a new split grille like the 1970s version, new taillights and a bigger bulge on the hood. Inside the changes are bigger with the a new instrument panel that features a 7-inch screen in between the gauges, while another 8.4-inch touchscreen houses the navigation system and Chrysler’s Uconnect Access infotainment system.

The 2015 Challenger will be offered in eight versions, plus the SRT version: SXT, SXT Plus, R/T, R/T Plus, R/T Shaker, R/T Plus Shaker, 6.4L Scat Pack and the 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker. The SXT models are powered by a 305-hp 3.6L V6. The R/T models get a more powerful 5.7L HEMI V8 with 375-hp and 410- lb-ft. of torque, while the 6.4L Scat Pack and the 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker get a 6.4L HEMI V8 with 485-hp and 475 lb-ft. of torque.

Dodge hasn’t revealed any of the updates to the 2015 Challenger SRT, but it’s expected that it will get a new supercharged 6.2L (Hellcat) V8 when it debuts later this year.
