Mercedes-Benz has released the pricing for the 2014 Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive, which starts at $41,450, only $100 more than the BMW i3.

Mercedes-Benz has released the pricing for the 2014 Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive, which starts at $41,450, only $100 more than the BMW i3.

Based on the conventional B-Class that is sold in other markets outside the U.S., the B-Class Electric Drive is powered by an electric drive system that was developed in cooperation with Tesla Motors. With 177 horsepower on tap and a 28 kWh lithium-ion battery, the B-Class Electric Drive can reach 0-60 mph in 7.9 seconds and travel an estimated 85 miles between charges.

Mercedes-Benz says that using a 240-volt charger owners can get enough power to travel up to 60 miles in just two hours. The B-Class Electric Drive can also be charged using a standard domestic power outlet.

2014 Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive

Inside the B-Class Electric Drive comes standard with a 5.8-inch display with a standard navigation system. A COMAND multimedia system with internet access, navigation and LINGUATRONIC voice control is optional.

The B-Class Electric Drive is going to go on sale in the U.S. first, this summer before arriving in Europe.
