2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Gets a Facelift, Diesel Engine and New 8-Speed Automatic

Chrysler is updating the popular Jeep Grand Cherokee for the 2014 model year. In addition to a facelift, the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee gets a new available 3.0L diesel engine and an eight-speed automatic for its entire engine lineup.

On the outside the 2014 Grand Cherokee gets a new face with headlights that look similar to the Chrysler 300, a new grille and lower fascia. The rear end also gets updated with new taillights, bumper and tailgate. The changes don’t stop there, the interior has also been updated with a new steering wheel, the UConnect infotainment system and a restyled center stack. The Grand Cherokee also gets new safety technology like adaptive cruise control, front park assist and front collision alert.

In addition to the styling upgrades, the biggest news for the 2014 Grand Cherokee is the introduction of the new 3.0L diesel engine in the US. The 3.0L diesel engine generates 240 horsepower and 420 lb-ft. of torque. It’s rated at 21 mpg in the city and 30 on the highway. The diesel powered Grand Cherokee also has a 7,400-pound tow rating.

The 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT8 also gets a new launch control and Selec-Track system. The 470 horsepower 6.4L V8 also gets the new eight-speed automatic, which should also improve its performance specs.
