Infiniti has announced that the 2014 Infiniti Q50 will debut at the Geneva Motor Show with a new powertrain that will be borrowed from Mercedes-Benz. The Q50 for Europe includes the first fruit of the co-operation agreement with Daimler aka Mercedes-Benz. “The Infiniti Q50 is a world-class sports saloon with an engine line-up that will clearly demonstrate its intentions to be a major player within the European premium market,” said Bernard Loire, Vice President, Infiniti Africa, Middle East and Europe (AMIE).
Infiniti hasn’t announced the official details yet, but it’s been reported that the Q50 will borrow four-cylinder and diesel engines from Mercedes-Benz. Nissan and Daimler has already announced plans to co-develop a four-cylinder engine. Nissan will also borrow Daimler´s latest transmission technology for Nissan and Infiniti vehicles starting in 2016.
