GM’s 2014 Chevy Silverado pickup just beat the Ram 1500 in the latest Consumer Reports matchup. Consumer Reports’ editors scored the Silverado three points higher than the Ram 1500 in its series of tests. This marks the second time in a just a few months that a GM model has received top marks in the Consumer Reports’ tests. Consumer Reports recently gave the all-new 2014 Chevy Impala a score of 95 out of 100, making it one of the top sedans it’s ever tested.
How did the Silverado beat the Ram 1500? The magazine gave it top marks for its larger bed, tow rating and the best fuel economy in the class. Even though the Silverado came out on top, the magazine stated that the Ram 1500 may be the better choice for consumers that use their pickups to commute. The Ram 1500’s coil spring rear suspension, better seats and nicer interior make it a better day to day pickup.
