GM has announced the initial fuel economy stats for the all-new 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra pickups, which have the highest fuel economy ratings than any other V8 full size pickup.
The pickups will be available with three engines: a 4.3L EcoTec3 V-6, 5.3L EcoTec3 V-8 and a 6.2L EcoTec3 V-8. GM hasn’t announced the official specs for the 4.3L and 6.2L engines, but the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V-8 generates 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft. of torque. With the 5.3L engine the pickups will get up to 23 mpg on the highway for 2wd models, and 22 mpg on the highway for 4×4 models, which better than any V-8 competitor, and beats the EPA estimates for the 2013 Ford EcoBoost turbocharged V-6 for both 2wd and 4×4 models. With the available Max Trailer Package the 5.3L V8 can tow up to 11,500 pounds.
The 2014 Silverado regular cab will start at $24,585, while the GMC Sierra regular cab starts at $25,085.
