General Motors is taking a page out of Honda’s book with a sooner than expected refresh for the Chevy Malibu. Sales of the Chevy Malibu have failed to meet expectations and with the arrival of stiff competition like the Fusion, Accord and Altima, the Malibu is often forgotten. General Motors hopes to fix this with a refreshed Malibu that will arrive by the third quarter of this year.
According to sources, the outside the Malibu will get some styling updates that will bring it closer in line to the styling of the new Impala. The Malibu’s back seat is also going to get some updates to make it feel roomier, since some consumers have complained about the back seats.

“It’s a challenging segment,” Chris Perry, head of Chevrolet U.S. marketing, stated to Automotive News earlier this week in an interview. “That is the toughest, probably, car segment in the industry and everyone is coming out at the same time with a new product.”
