As promised, BMW has officially unveiled the new 2-Series coupe, which will arrive early next year as a 2014 model.
As promised, BMW has officially unveiled the new 2-Series coupe, which will arrive early next year as a 2014 model. The 2014 BMW 2-Series will be offered as the 228i and M235i. The 2014 228i will start at $33,025, while the M23i will start at $44,025.
The 2-Series Coupe is the replacement for the 1-Series Coupe. The 2-Series is larger than the 1-Series with its length being increased by 2.8 inches, it’s 1.3 inches wider and its wheelbase is now 1.3 inches longer. The larger dimensions translate to a larger interior with 0.7 inches more front headroom and 0.8 inches more rear legroom.
The 228i will be powered by a 240-hp turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder, while the M235i is powered by a turbocharged 3.0L six-cylinder with 322-hp and 332 lb-ft. of torque. The 228i will reach 0-60 mph in 5.4 seconds with the 8-speed automatic, while the M235i reaches the same speed in 4.8 seconds.
The 228i is rated at 23 city/35 highway/27 combined for the 8-speed sport automatic. 22 city/34 highway/26 combined for the 6-speed manual. The M235i Coupe is rated at 22 mpg city/32 mpg highway/25 mpg combined for the 8-speed sport automatic. 19 mpg city/28 mpg highway/22 mpg combined for the 6-speed manual.
