Acura has announced the pricing for the all-new 2014 MDX, which goes on sale in July and will start at $42,290. For the first time the third-generation MDX will be offered in front and all-wheel-drive versions.
The 2014 MDX rides on an all-new platform, which is a departure from the previous two generations that used a version of Honda’s Global Light Truck Platform. Compared to the 2013 model, the 2014 MDX is 2.0 inches longer and has a 2.8-inch longer wheelbase, while its width has been reduced by 1.3 inches. Vehicle height has been lowered by 1.5 inches, and rear step-in height is lower by 1.8 inches compared to the outgoing model.
Acura also employed more lightweight materials for the new MDX (high-strength steel, aluminum and magnesium) that have resulted in a 275 pound weight reduction compared to the previous model. Under the hood the 2014 MDX is powered by an all-new 3.5L V6 that produces 290 horsepower and 267 lb-ft. of torque. The V6 is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive models feature Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel-Drive (SH-AWD) system.
The base price for the 2014 MDX with front-wheel-drive starts at $42,290, while the base all-wheel-drive model will start at $45,185. There are four trim levels available: base, Technology package, Technology and Entertainment packages and the top-of-the-line MDX with the Advance and Entertainment packages. The top model with all-wheel-drive starts at $57,400.
