Porsche has officially taken the wraps off the all-new 2013 Porsche Boxster that will go on sale this summer.
The 2013 Boxster gets an all-new body that doesn’t steer too far from the current Boxster, which is not a bad thing. The new Boxster weighs less than the previous generation and rides on a longer wheelbase and a wider track.
The Boxster can be powered by the two flat-six engines with direct-injection, thermal management and start/stop function. The base Boxster is powered by a 2.7L flat-six that puts out 265 horsepower (10 more than the current model), while the Boxster S gets its motivation from a 3.4L flat-six that packs 315 horsepower (5 more than before). Both engines can be mated to either a six-speed manual gearbox or the seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK). The Boxster reaches 0-60 mph in 5.4 seconds, while the Boxster S only takes 4.7 seconds.
Porsche has announced that the base 2013 Boxster will start at $49,500 and the Boxster S will start at $60,900 (not including a $950 destination charge).
