The 2013 Escape arrives this spring, but dealers are already taking orders for the all-new Escape that is a huge styling departure from the outgoing model. Production kicked off this week at Ford’s Louisville, Ky plant.
In the first three months of this year, the Escape has captured 14.2 percent of the entry level crossover segment, which puts it in the number two spot behind the Honda CR-V, which has an 18.1 percent share of the segment.
The base Escape S is powered by a 168-hp 2.5L four-cylinder, while the SE is powered by either a 173-hp 1.6L or 237-hp 2.0L EcoBoost engine. The top Titanium model comes standard with the 2.0L engine. With the 2.0L engine, owners can tow up to 3,500 pounds.
