The 2012 BMW M5 Concept was not expected to be revealed until the Shanghai Motor Show later this month, but it looks like the first photos have been leaked. An embargoed press event in Germany this week gives us our first look at the concept, which is pretty much what the production version will look like.

The 2012 BMW M5 will be powered by the twin-turbocharged 4.4L V8 that is in the X6M, although it will have more power. The engine will be mated to a seven-speed DCT and a six-speed manual is still a possibility.

Stay tuned for the official unveiling in a few weeks.
