It’s already known that the 2011 Mustang is set to get engine upgrades to both the V6 and V8 engines. Little details have surfaced until now about how much horsepower we can expect.

A forum member over at The Mustang Source has posted some of what we can expect, hopefully when the 2011 Mustang is released.

First the V6 powered Mustang will see an increase in horsepower to 315 thanks to a new 3.7L (15 more than the Camaro). The V8 powered Mustang GT also gets a horsepower upgrade to 400 thanks to an expected 5.0L Coyote V8. The 5.0L V8 will be mated to a new six-speed manual transmission. Sadly, due to the small horsepower gap between Ford’s EcoBoost V6 and the new V8 ( 365 vs 400) it looks like there won’t be an EcoBoost V6 powered Mustang.

Let’s hope these rumors are true…
