2009 Lincoln MKS Spy Photos…It Looks Like the Twin-Turbo TwinForce V6 Won't Be Standard

Spy photos of Lincoln’s upcoming MKS sedan have been circulating for months. Recently we got our first glimpse of the interior of the upcoming sedan. Now KGP spy photographers have caught some photos of a prototype with its engine exposed. Unfortunately from these photos it looks like the standard engine will be the 3.5L V6 that is in the Ford Taurus, Edge and Lincoln MKZ and not the new TwinForce V6.

The new 3.5L V6 may not be the appropriate engine for the flagship sedan if it expects to compete against BMW and Lexus. The engine is going to be a bit underpowered due to the extra curb weight.

It is rumored that the 3.5L V6 with the TwinForce technology will have V8-like power with approximately 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. It is debatable if buyers will ignore the fact that there is not a V8 option.

It is expected that the production MKS will be unveiled at the 2008 NAIAS next January.
