Hyundai unveiled the all-new rear-wheel-drive Genesis coupe at the New York Auto Show last month. It was rumored that the new coupe would eventually replace the Tiburon in the lineup, although Hyundai execs eventually said it would not. Well John Krafcik, Vice President of product development for Hyundai recently told the Automotive News that the this is going to be the last year for the Tiburon.

Krafcik is insistent that the Genesis coupe is not a replacement for the Tiburon. “We are seriously looking at a small front-wheel-drive coupe to replace the Tiburon,” Krafcik told the Automotive News. Krafcik did not reveal a time frame. At the LA Auto Show, Hyundai execs revealed that they are looking at the Veloster concept as inspiration for the replacement for the next Tiburon.
